Tarwin Lower Green Thumbs Garden Club
Last Tuesday of the month
In 2016 a garden club at Tarwin Lower was re-established. There had previously been a number of garden clubs that had ceased to operate, and as a result of public feedback, the Tarwin Lower Health Centre Committee took the initiative to hold a public meeting to establish interest and support for a garden group.
Accordingly, the Green Thumbs Garden Group was established as an ancillary group to the Tarwin Lower Community Health Centre Committee of Management.
Aims of the group are:
-
To provide opportunities for members to learn more about flowers, shrubs, trees and vegetables, about different varieties, where they originated and how to grow and propagate them.
-
To create enjoyment in gardening and social interaction, networking and development of knowledge and skills about seasonal climates and what to plant.
The Green Thumbs Garden Group holds meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month from February to December. Meetings alternate between IN days where a guest speaker, demonstration, competition or plant sharing occurs or OUT days where the group visits nurseries, gardens or other places of interest.
Membership is $10 per year, and a $2 coin at meetings to help cover costs of refreshments.
